By CARLOS MONARREZ • FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER • November 20, 2008

The 0-10 Lions have failed to sell out their third straight home game and will have Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay blacked out in local television markets.

The team said fewer than 7,000 tickets remained for the 1 p.m. game at Ford Field.

The blackout will affect broadcasts, including DirecTV’s “Sunday Ticket,” that have signal penetration within 75 miles of Ford Field. TV markets where the game will not be shown are metro Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw/Flint and Toledo.

The Lions’ sellout streak, which dated to 2001, ended at 51 games when they failed to sell out the Oct. 26 game against Washington.

Team officials would not say how many tickets remain for next week’s Thanksgiving Day game against Tennessee.

Lineup change

With the Lions game blacked out on Channel 2 (Fox), Channel 62 (CBS) will carry the N.Y. Jets at Tennessee in the 1 p.m. slot and drop the previously scheduled 4:05 broadcast of Oakland at Denver.
